Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, expressing hope that it will pave the way for lasting peace in the region.
“I welcome the announcement of a ceasefire in Lebanon, facilitated through bold and sagacious diplomatic efforts led by President Donald Trump, and express the hope that it will pave the way for sustainable peace,” Sharif wrote on X, Caliber.Az reports.

He reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. He added that Islamabad would continue to back all initiatives aimed at achieving lasting peace.
The ceasefire was announced by U.S. President Donald Trump on April 16, following an agreement between Israel and Lebanon.
“These two Leaders have agreed that in order to achieve PEACE between their Countries, they will formally begin a 10 Day CEASEFIRE at 5 P.M. EST,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
