Pakistan’s prime minister welcomes Trump’s move to pause Hormuz initiative
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has welcomed an announcement by Donald Trump to pause “Project Freedom” in the Strait of Hormuz, describing the move as a constructive step toward easing regional tensions.
In a statement posted on X, Sharif expressed appreciation for what he called Trump’s “courageous leadership” and timely decision, noting that it followed requests from Pakistan and several regional partners, Caliber.Az reports.

He highlighted in particular the role of Mohammed bin Salman and Saudi Arabia in urging de-escalation.
Sharif said the decision could contribute to promoting peace, stability, and reconciliation during a sensitive period for the region. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to supporting efforts aimed at restraint and the peaceful resolution of disputes through dialogue and diplomacy.
The prime minister also expressed hope that the current diplomatic momentum would lead to a lasting agreement ensuring long-term stability in the region and beyond.
