Pakistan security forces kill eight militants

Pakistan security forces have killed eight militants in an intelligence-based operation (IBO) in the Tank District of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), the country’s military announced on October 24.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the Pakistan Armed Forces conducted the operation based on intelligence about the presence of terrorists in the area, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media. 

"During the conduct of operation, own troops effectively engaged khawarij locations, and after an intense fire exchange, eight Indian sponsored khawarij were sent to hell," the ISPR statement reads.

Authorities recovered large caches of weapons and ammunition from the militants, who had been involved in multiple attacks targeting security forces and civilians. A sanitisation operation is ongoing to ensure no other militants remain in the area.

Pakistan has experienced rising terror incidents, particularly in KP and Balochistan, since the Taliban regained power in Afghanistan in 2021. Terrorists have reportedly carried out hundreds of cross-border attacks, resulting in the deaths of both soldiers and civilians.
