Pakistan seizes drugs worth hundreds of millions of dollars in Gwadar

Authorities in Pakistan have carried out a large-scale anti-narcotics operation near the coastal area of Gwadar, seizing around two tonnes of illegal drugs.

The confiscated shipment included 1,500 kilograms of hashish and 500 kilograms of methamphetamine (“ice”), Caliber.Az reports, citing Dawn.

The operation was conducted by the Pakistan Navy and the Pakistan Coast Guard in coordination with the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC), based on intelligence reports.

Authorities estimate the total value of the seized drugs on the international market at approximately $215 million.

Officials said the narcotics were being transported via the Arabian Sea toward international destinations.

The seized substances have been handed over to the coast guard for further legal proceedings.
