Palestine Red Crescent condemns Israeli attack on evacuation effort in West Bank
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has accused the Israeli military of opening fire on its medical teams during a recent evacuation operation at a refugee camp in the West Bank.
In a statement published on social media platform X, the organization detailed the incident, which occurred in the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarm, Caliber.Az reports.
According to the PRCS, despite prior coordination between medical teams and Israeli soldiers, the Israeli forces obstructed the PRCS vehicles, preventing them from evacuating civilians from the camp. The statement stressed that the attack on the medical teams was unprovoked, with Israeli forces allegedly blocking the humanitarian aid vehicles as they attempted to transport individuals to safety.

“The occupation forces targeted the Palestine Red Crescent Society’s Disaster Risk Management team by firing “warning” live bullets at them while they were en route to evacuate a family in Jabal Al-Nasr in Nur Shams camp in Tulkarem despite prior coordination. The forces blocked their entry, preventing them from carrying out the evacuation,” the statement reads.
The PRCS further reported that, over the past 24 hours, its medical teams had successfully evacuated more than 40 individuals from the Nur Shams camp, a process that was severely disrupted by the military’s actions.
The incident has raised concerns about the safety of humanitarian personnel in conflict zones and the challenges they face in carrying out life-saving missions. The PRCS has condemned the attack, calling for greater protection for medical teams working in volatile areas.
