Palestine Red Crescent Society opens first field hospital in Gaza amid humanitarian crisis
The Palestine Red Crescent Society (PRCS) has completed the establishment of the first field hospital in Gaza City, providing much-needed medical services amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
In a post on X, PRCS wrote that the fully equipped hospital is located in the Al-Saraya neighbourhood and will house several medical departments, including surgery, intensive care, emergency services, radiology, and an incubation unit, Caliber.Az reports,
The facility aims to alleviate the burden on Gaza's collapsing healthcare system, where the majority of hospitals and health centres have been rendered inoperative due to the ongoing Israeli military operations.
The new field hospital will be overseen by the medical team from Al-Quds Hospital, situated in the Tal Al-Hawa area of Gaza. Al-Quds Hospital has been out of service since the start of the war, further exacerbating the severe shortage of medical resources in the region.
The PRCS emphasized that the establishment of this hospital is a crucial step in ensuring access to medical care for residents of Gaza and the northern areas, where the healthcare infrastructure has been severely affected.
The organization highlighted the urgent need for additional support to sustain medical operations and respond to the growing humanitarian needs of the population.
