Palestinian Authority, Türkiye endorse Trump's plan for peace in Gaza
The Palestinian Authority (PA) has approved the Trump plan and congratulated the U.S. president for his “sincere and tireless” efforts to end the war in the Gaza Strip.
According to Al Arabiya, the PA’s statement expressed “confidence in President Donald Trump’s ability to find a path to peace” and emphasised “the importance of partnership with the United States to achieve regional peace.”
The statement also stressed that any agreement must ensure the uninterrupted delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza and the release of Israeli hostages and Palestinian prisoners. The plan is intended to prevent the annexation of Palestinian lands and to unite Palestinian territories in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, including East Jerusalem. Such an agreement, the statement noted, “would end the occupation.”
The PA has pledged to implement U.S.-requested reforms, reaffirming its commitment to establishing “a modern, democratic, and demilitarised Palestinian state, dedicated to pluralism and peaceful transfer of power.”
Additionally, the authority committed to introducing UNESCO-standardised educational programs within two years and establishing a unified social welfare system subject to international oversight — specifically excluding payments to terrorists serving sentences in Israeli prisons.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan took to the social network X to hail the efforts and leadership of US President Trump aimed at ending the bloodshed in the Gaza Strip and ensuring a ceasefire.
“I commend US President Donald Trump’s efforts and leadership aimed at halting the bloodshed in Gaza and achieving a ceasefire. Türkiye will continue to contribute to the process with a view to establishing a just and lasting peace acceptable to all parties,” Erdogan posted.
