Palestinian prime minister calls on Hamas to disarm

Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammad Mustafa has urged Hamas to disarm and relinquish control over the Gaza Strip to the Palestinian Authority (PA) in order to restore security in the war-torn region.

Speaking at a conference on the two-state solution held at the United Nations in New York on July 28, Mustafa emphasised the necessity of both Israeli withdrawal and Hamas’s cooperation, Caliber.Az reports via Arab News.

“Israel must withdraw completely from the Gaza Strip and Hamas must relinquish its control over the strip and hand over its weapons to the Palestinian Authority,” he said.

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres also adressed the same conference, saying that the two-state solution is farther than ever before.
