Palestinians return to Gaza following ceasefire with Israel VIDEO
Following the announcement of a ceasefire and the withdrawal of Israeli troops, Palestinian families have begun returning to the Gaza Strip.
According to Al Jazeera, thousands of Palestinians are heading towards northern Gaza.
Following the implementation of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Israeli military has advised residents to stay away from the Rafah crossing on the border with Egypt and the Philadelphi Corridor.
Israeli Army spokesperson Avichay Adraee made the warning on X, Caliber.Az reports.
“In line with the ceasefire agreement, our forces will remain in designated areas within Gaza. We strongly urge the public to avoid these locations, particularly the Philadelphi Corridor and the Rafah crossing, as it could pose a danger to your safety,” Edri wrote.
Israel’s government ratified a ceasefire with Hamas on October 10, paving the way to suspend hostilities in Gaza within 24 hours and free Israeli hostages within 72 hours.
The cabinet approved the deal roughly a day after mediators announced the agreement, which includes the release of Israeli hostages in exchange for Palestinian prisoners and a phased withdrawal of Israeli troops under US President Donald Trump’s initiative to end the two-year war.
Khalil al-Hayya, head of the Hamas negotiating delegation, said he had received assurances from the United States and other mediators regarding the implementation of the peace deal with Israel.
As part of the agreement, Israel will reportedly release 250 Palestinians serving life sentences, along with around 1,700 others detained since the war began on October 7, 2023.
