Parents of missing Armenian soldiers holding protest in Yerevan

19 July 2023 13:07

Parents of missing Armenian servicemen from the "Chemists" military unit are holding a protest in front of the Armenian government building in Yerevan.

They demand a meeting with Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.

"We have not heard any news about our boys for almost three years, the National Security Service is not working normally, all structures have forgotten about our children. Nikol Pashinyan, answer us - where are our children?" the parents of Armenian soldiers told journalists.

When asked if they had any expectations from Pashinin's meeting with the president of Azerbaijan, one of the parents said: "What should we expect? During these three years, did any of us see something unexpected, that today there would be something new? The fact is that they [Armenian authorities]. have not met any expectations".

He also added that the Armenian authorities have been "sleeping" for three years.

"The court does not work, we go back and forth 100 kilometres every time, as a result, the judge comes down for 5 minutes, says a couple of false words, and sends us back and says: come back in two months, come back in five months," he said.

“Pashinyan makes empty promises. He says when the prisoners are handed over, we will bring back your son. Can you tell me if among the wounded, dead or missing are the children of even the most insignificant head of some village, no. Can you show me somewhere? There is not a single child of an official among the wounded, dead or missing. Only poor children, were taken and sent to hell, and now they want us too. They know that one day we can die, a man is 70 years old,” he added.

Let them not force people to take unnecessary steps, but maybe I will decide to do it. It is possible that I will attach a flag to my car and go to Azerbaijan. I will say that I want to be a citizen of Azerbaijan, I don't want to be a citizen of Armenia. Give me back my son and I will go and get an Azerbaijani passport," said the father of the Armenian serviceman.

A few days ago, the parents of Armenian soldiers held a rally in front of the building of the National Security Service of the country, demanding a meeting with the Director of the National Security Service Armen Abazyan, but the latter did not receive them.
