Partial shutdown in Washington forces US Embassy in Armenia to limit services
The US Embassy in Armenia announced that it will scale back its operations due to the lack of an approved federal budget in the United States.
According to Caliber.Az, the embassy shared the update on its official Facebook page.
With the new fiscal year beginning on October 1, Congress had not finalised a government budget, forcing federal authorities to halt certain operations amid a partial shutdown.
The Senate failed to pass bipartisan funding bills and concluded its session on October 1, making the shutdown unavoidable. In response, the White House had previously instructed federal agencies to prepare for such a scenario.
In its statement, the embassy said, “Due to the failure to approve the US budget, there will be no new posts on our Facebook page until operations resume in full. The only exceptions will be urgent messages about safety and security.”
