Passenger aircraft catches fire during takeoff attempt in India

An incident occurred at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi, where a passenger aircraft preparing to depart for Zurich caught fire during takeoff.

According to the Economic Times, one of the aircraft’s engines ignited during the takeoff roll.

The pilots aborted the takeoff, and passengers were urgently evacuated from the aircraft. Six people were injured, with some of them requiring hospitalization.

“A SWISS flight from Delhi to Zurich aborted takeoff and was evacuated after an engine failure and fire,” the newspaper noted.
