Passenger surge causes delays at Russia–China border crossing
05 January 2026 09:53
A delay has occurred at the Manzhouli road border crossing on the Russia–China border due to a sharp increase in passenger traffic, the Russian Consulate General in Harbin told TASS.
“On the evening of January 4, the consulate received reports from Russian citizens about a queue of buses accumulated at the Chinese border checkpoint in Manzhouli. According to local authorities, the issue arose for technical reasons linked to the sudden surge in passenger flow. On January 4, 3,178 passengers entered China and 2,716 exited the country through the crossing,” the consulate said.
The Manzhouli checkpoint resumed normal operations on January 5.
