Passenger tries to open plane door in India, claims "ghost chase"
30 March 2026 11:18
A passenger on an IndiGo Airbus A321 flight from Bangalore to Varanasi attempted twice to open the emergency exit door mid-flight, according to NDTV. The crew successfully prevented the incident.
The aircraft, carrying over 100 people, was at approximately 150 metres altitude when the attempts occurred, shortly before landing. The pilot had to go around for a second approach to safely land at Varanasi Airport. No injuries were reported, but passengers experienced significant stress.
After landing, the passenger was detained and handed over to local police. During questioning, he stated he was unaware of his actions and tried to leave the plane because he felt “haunted by a ghost."
