Pentagon, CIA to set up group to study lessons of Ukraine war
The U.S. National Defense Authorization Act of 2025, passed by Congress and signed into law by President Joe Biden on December 23, includes the creation of a working group to study the lessons of the fighting in Ukraine.
"The sole responsibilities of the working group are as follows: [first] identifying tactical and operational intelligence lessons learned from the conflict in Ukraine; [second] developing a replicable process for disseminating these lessons to Department of Defense personnel responsible for developing defense doctrine and making decisions on weapons procurement," the document states, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
The creation of the group will involve the U.S. director of national intelligence, including the CIA, as well as the head of the Pentagon. In addition to updating doctrine and the procurement system, it is expected that new intelligence collection priorities will also be identified based on the work done.
