UK rock titans Muse announce new album with space-launched premiere

Grammy Award-winning English rock band Muse has announced its tenth studio album, The Wow! Signal, set for release on June 26 via Warner Records.

The band revealed the project with an unconventional, space-themed launch. In collaboration with Sent Into Space, Muse sent a specially designed tablet 33 kilometres into the atmosphere to premiere the music video for the album’s lead single, Be With You. A second payload carried stickers tied to a limited-edition vinyl release that fans will be able to claim.

The new album marks Muse’s first full-length release since Will of the People (2022), which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and Top Alternative Albums charts.

Alongside the announcement, the band released “Be With You”, accompanied by a cinematic music video starring Ella Balinska. The video was directed by Nico Paolillo and presents a visually striking narrative: as a red halo surrounds the moon, Balinska’s character begins to experience unexplained phenomena and is drawn into the night by an unknown force. She encounters another individual affected by the same energy, and together they witness a mysterious and awe-inspiring event.

Musically, the track begins with a resonant church organ and an emotive vocal performance by frontman Matt Bellamy, before evolving into driving electronic elements and powerful rock instrumentation. The song’s narrative shifts from despair to determination, reflecting a journey toward renewal and purpose.

The album’s title references the historic “Wow! signal,” a 72-second radio burst detected in 1977 from the direction of the constellation Sagittarius. The signal’s unusual intensity and structure led to speculation about a possible extraterrestrial origin. The astronomer who identified it famously wrote “Wow!” next to the sequence “6EQUJ5,” giving the phenomenon its enduring name.
