White House signals Iran mission on schedule
The White House has signaled that the US military campaign against Iran remains on schedule, even as US President Donald Trump suggests the conflict could end sooner than initially projected.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said the administration had anticipated a longer timeline for the operation, according to Axios.
“The President and the Pentagon predicted it would take approximately 4-6 weeks to achieve this mission. Tomorrow marks week 3,” she said.
Another White House official echoed that message, stating that Trump was emphasising the mission remains on target.
Leavitt also clarified that a recent post by President Donald Trump suggesting the campaign could conclude soon should not be interpreted as an indication that hostilities would end immediately. Several of the president’s advisers are still weighing the possibility of launching a ground operation on Iranian territory.
Trump has repeatedly said in recent days that the war could end soon. However, officials describe his latest remarks as the clearest signal yet that he is actively considering a shift in strategy.
