19 September 2025 10:03
The Pentagon has removed funding for the purchase of Sentinel intercontinental ballistic missiles (LGM-35A) from its fiscal year 2026 budget proposal.
The total programme was previously estimated at $86.1 billion, Lenta.ru reports, citing U.S. Department of Defense documents.
According to the documents, development spending for the Sentinel has been reduced by $2.85 billion following a programme review. However, no new funds for missile procurement are included in the budget.
Approximately $4.15 billion is allocated for research and testing, of which $2.65 billion are flexible funds and $1.5 billion are mandatory expenditures.
