PM Rama: Jared Kushner’s Albania resort plan advances

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama has confirmed that there has been progress in the development of a resort project linked to Jared Kushner, son-in-law of US President Donald Trump.

In an interview with the newspaper Zeit, Rama outlined that the project is divided into two main parts: a coastal peninsula and the state-owned island of Sazani, Caliber.Az reports.

“There is progress. The planning for the peninsula has been completed. We are still negotiating the terms of the partnership for Sazani Island. Preliminary concepts look very promising,” he said.

The prime minister also noted that numerous companies have expressed interest in participating in the project’s implementation.

Jared Kushner, former senior advisor to U.S. President Donald Trump, is leading a major resort development in Albania through his firm, Affinity Partners.

The project aims to transform the uninhabited Sazani Island and a nearby coastal peninsula into a luxury resort destination. In late 2024, the Albanian government granted Strategic Investor status to Kushner’s company, speeding up permits and offering incentives.

The development will include eco-friendly hotels, private villas, a marina, and restored Cold War-era buildings, aiming to boost tourism and create around 1,000 jobs. While the project promises economic benefits, it has raised environmental concerns due to its location near sensitive natural areas.

Politically, the initiative strengthens Albania’s ties with the West, particularly the U.S. As planning progresses, the resort has attracted both international interest and scrutiny, balancing development ambitions with ecological and diplomatic challenges.
