PM Sharif: Pakistan delivered befitting response to Indian provocations “avenged the blood of innocent citizens”
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the country has delivered a "befitting response" to India following what he described as repeated attacks on civilians by Indian forces.
Speaking with political leaders in separate phone calls, Sharif claimed that Pakistan had "avenged the blood of our innocent citizens" after Indian missile strikes targeted various locations overnight, including airbases, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
In a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office, Sharif said Pakistan had exercised “extreme restraint” in response to what he called ongoing Indian provocations, but had now acted decisively.
The Pakistani military launched a retaliatory operation—codenamed Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos, which translates from Arabic as "Wall of Lead"—striking multiple sites in northern India. Among the targets was a missile storage facility, according to Pakistani officials.
There has been no immediate comment from New Delhi on the reported operation. Tensions between the nuclear-armed neighbours have escalated in recent days, raising concerns among the international community.
