Poggio-di-Venaco city mayor: France restricts Corsicans’ freedom
The Mayor of the Corsican city of Poggio-di-Venaco Jean-Marc Rodriguez has said that France restricts the freedom of Corsica's residents and prohibits them from observing their own traditions.
Rodriguez made these remarks at the International Conference themed “Neocolonialism: Human Rights Violations and Injustice” being held in Baku, Report informs.
He noted that there must not be colonialism in the modern world.
“After the occupation, France introduced many bans in Corsica. For example, we are forbidden to observe our traditions,” the mayor said.
Rodriguez also expressed gratitude to everyone who supported Corsica in the fight for independence.
“France each time assigns some new status to Corsica to distract attention. However, this does not make us free. Paris only promises that it will take our demands into account. However, in reality, none of them are being implemented,” he said.
