Poland announces date of arrival of first batch of Abrams tanks
The first batch of American Abrams tanks purchased by Warsaw from Washington will arrive in Poland at the end of this month.
"The transportation of the first batch of Abrams tanks begins. Fourteen M1A1 Abrams tanks and three M88A2 Hercules recovery vehicles will soon be sent to Poland. They will arrive in our country at the end of this month," Polish National Defence Minister Mariusz Blaszczak wrote on his Twitter page, TASS reports.
In 2022, Poland signed an agreement with the US to supply 250 upgraded M1A2 Abrams tanks between 2025 and 2026. Warsaw later said it had reached an agreement with Washington on the supply of 116 more M1A1 tanks that were out of service. Polish crews had already been trained on similar US combat vehicles in the country in 2022.
