Poland begins construction of second fence on Belarus border

Polish authorities have started building a second barrier along the border with Belarus in the Podlaskie Voivodeship, according to radio station RMF24.

The new fence will be a 4-metre-high metal mesh wall topped with barbed wire, with installation expected to begin in the coming days and completion scheduled for January.

Poland previously built a 5.5-metre-high metal barrier along a 180-kilometre section of the border in 2022, equipped with barbed wire, motion sensors, and all-weather cameras. The structure underwent modernisation in 2024.
