Poland detects weather balloons used for suspected smuggling

Weather balloons suspected of being used for smuggling were discovered in Poland overnight on April 10 in the Warmian-Masurian and Podlaskie voivodeships.

According to law enforcement, one of the objects was spotted in the Olecko area, while another was found in the village of Łopusze, Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.

Police warned residents not to approach suspicious objects, noting that they may be used for smuggling and could pose a safety risk.

An investigation is ongoing, according to the officials.

On the same day, Vilnius Airport in Lithuania temporarily suspended operations due to the appearance of similar weather balloons.
