Poland gets US F-22 fighter jets
11 April 2023 17:38
Polish National Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak has said that the US F-22 Raptor fighter jets landed in Poland on April 11.
The F-22s are among the most advanced aircraft in the world and will render support on NATO's eastern flank, Caliber.Az reports citing Błaszczak’s report on Twitter.
The US sent six F-22 Raptor fighter jets to Poland as part of the NATO “air cover” mission in the summer of 2022.
The mission brings together Allied air and missile defence units under NATO command and aims to create a "nearly uninterrupted shield from the Baltic Sea to the Black Sea".
The F-22 Raptor is considered the first fifth-generation aircraft in US aviation. It is capable of performing air-to-air and air-to-ground missions.
