Poland hits record 30 gigawatts power output amid winter demand
Poland recorded its highest ever electricity production on January 14, with power stations supplying a record 30 gigawatts to the national grid, Prime Minister Donald Tusk announced.
Tusk said the milestone was achieved despite exceptionally high demand caused by a winter cold spell. He noted that strong generation capacity and secure energy systems allowed Poland not only to meet domestic needs but also to export electricity at a time of peak consumption, Caliber.Az reports via Polish media.
The prime minister also warned of potential threats to the country’s energy infrastructure. He said that on January 15 he had instructed all government ministers and security services to remain on high alert, citing the risk of further attacks on the Polish energy system that could become more aggressive and sophisticated.
According to Tusk, previous attempts to disrupt the energy system had failed to achieve their intended impact, partly due to the effective work of personnel responsible for safeguarding Poland’s energy security.
