“Polish fighters conducted interception, visual identification, and escort of a Russian reconnaissance aircraft that was operating near the borders of the Republic of Poland’s airspace,” the statement read. The command emphasized that the situation is being continuously monitored, with forces and resources maintained at a state of constant readiness to ensure the security of Polish skies, Caliber.Az reports.
In addition, several objects were detected entering Polish airspace from Belarus during the night. Following a detailed analysis, military authorities concluded that the objects were most likely contraband aerial balloons, carried by prevailing winds. All objects were continuously tracked by radar systems.
As a precaution, a portion of the airspace over the Podlaskie Voivodeship was temporarily closed to civilian aviation. The Operational Command confirmed that it is in ongoing contact with relevant authorities, sharing information and providing data to aid the identification of detected objects.
After comprehensive checks, no threats to the security of Polish airspace were identified. Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
