Poland issues arrest warrant for ex-soldier accused of spying for Russia
Polish authorities have issued an arrest warrant for a former member of the country’s armed forces, accused of engaging in activities on behalf of Russian intelligence and spreading disinformation, Olivia Bożek-Michalec, a representative of the Kraków District Prosecutor’s Office, said.
According to the investigation, the former serviceman—who is reportedly currently in Russia—was actively working on behalf of a foreign intelligence service and conducting activities in favour of Russia by spreading disinformation, including through a TikTok media account called “PolaknaDonbasie,” Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.
His actions were aimed at disseminating false information capable of causing serious disruptions to Poland’s security system.
The suspect faces charges of espionage and serving in a foreign military.
As the former soldier is currently in hiding, the Kraków District Court has decided on his temporary detention and issued an arrest warrant.
