31 March 2026 07:27
The Polish government aims to grow the country’s contract army, together with trained reservists, to 500,000 personnel, RMF24 reports.
Deputy Defence Minister Stanisław Wziątek stated that the target includes 300,000 professional soldiers and 200,000 reservists to serve as a strategic reserve in emergencies.
“We anticipate that the army will number 500,000 troops—300,000 professional soldiers and an additional 200,000 reservists who will serve as a strategic reserve in case of emergencies,” Wziątek said.
He added that the Ministry of Defence expects to achieve these numbers between 2030 and 2035.
