Poland raised overnight air alert amid Russian missile threat
Poland’s Armed Forces raised their level of alert overnight due to a perceived threat from Russian missile strikes targeting Ukrainian territory, the country’s Operational Command has confirmed.
In a statement released on the morning of July 28, the military said that Polish and allied aircraft were temporarily deployed in national airspace as a precautionary measure but have since returned to regular operations following a reduction in the threat level, Caliber.Az reports per the military's post on X.
Ze względu na zmniejszenie poziomu zagrożenia uderzeniami rakietowymi rosyjskiego lotnictwa na terytorium Ukrainy, operowanie polskiego i sojuszniczego lotnictwa w polskiej przestrzeni powietrznej zostało zakończone, a uruchomione siły i środki powróciły do standardowej… pic.twitter.com/9Wj2NQFyqH

“The operations of Polish and allied aviation in Polish airspace have been concluded, and the deployed forces and resources have returned to standard operational activities,” the statement said.
No violations of Polish airspace were recorded during the alert.
The military also thanked NATO Air Command and the Swedish Air Force for their support. Swedish JAS 39 Gripen fighter jets, stationed in Malbork, played a role in ensuring the safety of Polish skies during the heightened alert.
The Polish Armed Forces stressed that they continue to monitor the situation in Ukraine and remain ready to respond to any threats to national airspace.
