Poland removes 20 Soviet monuments in three months of decommunisation
President of the Polish Institute of National Remembrance Karol Nawrocki has said that they managed to carry out decommunisation by a third of the planned volumes.
"In the last three months alone, we have removed 20 Soviet monuments, but there are 60 on our list," Nawrocki said, RBC-Ukraine reports with reference to Polskie Radio.
He pointed out the fact that the dismantling of Soviet monuments has been going on very quickly lately. Nawrocki wants to personally complete the process of decommunisation in Poland.
"This is a very fast pace, but this is an issue that should have been resolved long ago," the head of the Institute noted.
He added that he is engaged in the restoration of proceedings in cases of unexplained deaths of the 1980s and the lifting of immunity from communist-era prosecutors and judges.
