Poland scrambles fighters amid Russian air strikes on Ukraine
The Operational Command of the Polish Armed Forces reported that fighter jets were scrambled in response to Russian aviation activity over Ukraine.
““In connection with the activity of the Russian Federation's long-range aviation, which is striking Ukraine's territory, Polish and allied aviation have begun operations in our airspace,” the statement read, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Operational Command's X page.
The post noted that airborne alert fighter pairs were deployed, while ground-based air defense and radar reconnaissance systems were placed on the highest level of readiness.
The statement added that the decision to activate “all available forces and means at its disposal” was made in accordance with established operational response procedures.
