Poland scrambles jets as Russia strikes Ukraine

"Please note that in the south-eastern part of the country, there may be increased noise levels associated with the commencement of Polish and allied aircraft operations in our airspace," stated the Polish Armed Forces Operational Command. The command emphasized the heightened aviation activity by the Russian Federation, involving cruise missiles, SHAHED unmanned aerial vehicles, and ballistic missiles targeting western Ukraine.
The command further noted, "Tonight, intense long-range aviation activity of the Russian Federation is being observed, related to strikes using cruise missiles, unmanned aerial vehicles of the SHAHED type and ballistic missiles, carried out against objects located, among others, in the western territory of Ukraine."
This recent surge in Russian air activity mirrors the previous incident recorded on the night of June 13-14, which also saw strikes in western Ukraine. The Polish military reiterated their vigilance and preparedness, stating, "All necessary procedures to ensure the safety of Polish airspace have been launched, and the Armed Forces Operational Command is monitoring the situation on an ongoing basis."
