Poland signals readiness to host more US troops
Poland is prepared to accept a larger contingent of American military personnel, Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz said during a visit to the General Staff of the Polish Army.
He stressed that Poland considers itself a firm and reliable ally of the United States, Caliber.Az reports per Polish media.
Kosiniak-Kamysz explained that the country’s security framework rests on three main pillars: the strength of the army, the strength of alliances, and the strength of society. In his view, the presence of American troops in Poland demonstrates not only the robustness of the Polish-US partnership but also Poland’s role as an “iron ally” within NATO.
He recalled that Poland had stood alongside the United States in Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as in response to the September 11 attacks, underlining that Warsaw has consistently been present whenever Washington has needed support.
The deputy prime minister highlighted interoperability between Polish and American forces as another critical pillar of cooperation. He also noted that public backing for the US military presence in Poland strengthens this alliance further.
