Poland, South Korea forge strategic partnership for missile production
Poland has entered into a significant investment agreement with South Korea to establish a joint venture for the production of advanced missiles, a statement by the Polish Ministry of Defence confirmed.
The collaboration, formalized between Poland’s WB Electronics and South Korea’s Hanwha Aerospace, will see the construction of a state-of-the-art facility in Poland dedicated to manufacturing CGR-080 missiles for multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS), Caliber.Az reports.
The CGR-080 missiles are integral to the Homar-K MLRS, Poland’s localized designation for South Korea’s sophisticated K239 Chunmoo rocket systems, which Warsaw is actively procuring from Seoul. This strategic partnership not only enhances Poland’s military arsenal but also facilitates the transfer of cutting-edge technology and expertise to the Polish defence industry.
The Ministry of Defence underscored that the newly produced missiles will be compatible with other rocket systems currently deployed by the Polish Armed Forces, thereby amplifying their operational versatility.
