Poland to build military base near border with Russia's Kaliningrad region
Poland plans to build a military base in the city of Olecko, which is located near the border with the Kaliningrad region of the Russian Federation.
According to RBC-Ukraine with reference to Wprost, this was stated by Polish Defense Minister Mariusz Blaszczak.
“I have very good news for you, very good information. At the end of this year, a military unit will be created in Olecko. A military unit in Olecko means safety for the inhabitants of the city itself, as well as for the entire voivodship… A military unit is always a boon for the local community,” Blaszczak said.
According to him, the construction of a military base will begin in April. It is planned to be built quickly.
He also stressed that the personnel, which will be located on the territory of the military unit, will be included in the first Warmian artillery brigade.
