Poland to establish service centre for US Apache helicopter engines

Poland is to establish a service centre for the engines of US-made AH-64E Apache attack helicopters in Deblin.

An agreement has been signed between Aviation Plant No. 1 and US aerospace company GE Aerospace. The centre will service T700/CT7 engines, which are used on 15 types of combat platforms in 50 countries, Caliber.Az reports, citing Polish media.

The agreement is the third and final offset deal linked to Poland's purchase of 96 Apache helicopters.

The helicopter contract is valued at about 40 billion zlotys ($10.4 billion), with the first 15 aircraft due to be delivered in 2028.

"Poland is acquiring completely new capabilities," Deputy Minister of State Assets Konrad Golota said.

He said the engines had accumulated 135 million flight hours and were used by 20 military customers in Europe.

The Polish government said the project would create new expertise and infrastructure for military aviation in the country.

Deputy Defence Minister Cezary Tomczyk said Warsaw also planned to continue making large-scale purchases of US weapons.
