Polish F-16s intercept Russian Il-20 over Baltic Sea
Polish F-16 fighter jets intercepted a Russian Il-20 aircraft over the Baltic Sea on August 12.
According to a statement by Poland's Armed Forces Operational Command, the incident occurred without the Russian aircraft violating Polish territorial waters, Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian media.
"The Polish F-16 fighter jets intercepted and visually identified a Russian Federation aircraft [Il-20] flying over the Baltic Sea on August 12, 2024," the command reported.
On August 10, the German Air Force reported that NATO fighter jets were scrambled due to a Russian Il-20M aircraft flying over the Baltic Sea. Previously, Russia's Defence Ministry stated that all Russian military flights are conducted in strict accordance with international airspace regulations.
