Polish freight trains hit concrete blocks placed on railway tracks

Polish police are investigating an incident in Jedlanka, Lublin Voivodeship, where two freight trains struck concrete blocks placed on railway tracks, RMF24 reports.

A preliminary inspection found no explosives at the scene, police said. Those responsible could face up to 10 years in prison if identified.

“We are most likely dealing with an act of hooliganism. Police have recorded similar incidents at this location in the past,” Marcin Kozak, spokesperson for the District Prosecutor’s Office in Lublin, said.

The two trains were travelling in opposite directions when they struck the concrete blocks. One was the Konin–Biała Podlaska service and consisted of 24 cars, while the other, made up of 22 cars, was travelling from Małaszewicze to Kutno.

The front scrapers of both locomotives were damaged. Neither train derailed, and there were no injuries. Police said the trains were not carrying hazardous materials.
