Polish poll shows strong opposition to military role in Strait of Hormuz
A recent opinion poll indicates that a clear majority of Poles oppose the idea of Poland providing military assistance to the United States in securing the strategic Strait of Hormuz.
According to a survey conducted by SW Research for Polish outlet Onet, 65.1 per cent of respondents said Poland should not participate in such operations. Only 10 per cent expressed support for involvement, while approximately 25 per cent of those surveyed said they were undecided.
The findings come amid heightened international attention on maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global shipping route for oil and gas supplies. The poll follows comments by US President Donald Trump, who warned that NATO allies could face negative consequences if they fail to contribute to efforts aimed at safeguarding shipping in the region.
The results suggest limited public backing in Poland for potential military engagement in the Middle East under US-led initiatives.
