Polish president accuses EU of wanting to bring upon change to his government
The European Commission is forcing the Polish leadership to enter compromises, including on human rights issues, yet Warsaw is not willing to agree to that anymore.
This statement was given by Polish President Andrzej Duda who went even further, by stating that he believes the European Union wants to see a change in leadership for his country, according to Lenta.Ru.
The publication notes, that the president gave this response in connection with the Union’s proposed National Recovery Plan (NRP) which sets out the objectives for the rebuilding of Poland's socio-economic resilience following the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under this plan, Brussels was set to provide the country with a €35 billion aid package but was only approved with a delay due to demands that the Union made to the Polish leadership. Brussels now promises to deliver the financial aid only if Warsaw agrees to the proposed reforms.
"I will take no further responding steps to the proposals by the other side. As far as I am aware, we have fulfilled all conditions to receive the money, our expenses plan had been approved. We are awaiting the pay-out of that, what we are owed", President Duda stated.
