Polish president misspells his country’s name on F-35 fighter jet
Polish President Karol Nawrocki drew attention online after misspelling the name of his country while signing a fifth-generation F-35 fighter jet during a visit to Lockheed Martin Aeronautics headquarters in the United States.
Photos shared by Nawrocki on X showed the president holding a marker and signing one of the jets slated for delivery to Poland under a $4.6 billion agreement signed in 2020, Caliber.Az reports via Polish media.

However, a closer look revealed he had written “Polend” instead of “Poland,” prompting a wave of online reactions. Some users questioned his language skills, while others suggested the error may have been due to his distinctive handwriting, where the letter “e” resembles an “a.”
Poland acquired 32 F-35 multirole fighters, which are scheduled to be deployed to the 32nd Tactical Air Base in Łask starting mid-2026.
