Polish president: Permanent US military base in Poland “only matter of time”

Polish President Karol Nawrocki has said the establishment of a permanent US military base in Poland is “only a matter of time”, with Warsaw hoping to complete the project by the end of US President Donald Trump’s term in 2029.

He said Polish authorities were already working on the infrastructure needed for the facility, while Warsaw and Washington continued to finalise administrative and financial arrangements, Caliber.Az reports per Polish media.

The Polish president also suggested naming the future facility “Fort Trump” and said he hoped Trump would attend its official opening.

According to Nawrocki, Poland is prepared to cover the costs of providing security and accommodation for US military personnel stationed in the country.

However, the final decision on establishing the base, including its specific location, has not yet been made.
