Polish soldiers to be equipped with personal drones
Every member of the Polish Armed Forces is set to receive an individual drone, Defence Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz announced at the opening of the International Defence Industry Exhibition in Kielce on September 2.
“Soon, every soldier will be equipped with a personal drone, and operating these devices will become a standard skill within the Polish army,” Caliber.Az quotes Kosiniak-Kamysz as saying per foreign media.
According to journalists, a new training programme will ensure that future service members gain practical experience with drones and unmanned vessels while still completing higher education.
Training is expected to be rolled out across 15 separate military academies in Poland.
Kosiniak-Kamysz emphasised that the soldiers of tomorrow must be both well-prepared and highly educated.
On September 1, Polish media reported that Poland’s military risks running out of fuel in a conflict due to the country’s lack of connection to NATO’s military pipeline network.
Currently, fuel would have to be transported by trucks and trains, creating potential bottlenecks. Integrating Poland into the CEPS network would cost €21 billion, but funding remains unresolved amid opposition from southern European states.
Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned that the geopolitical struggle over Ukraine and European security is at a critical stage, calling for Western unity.
Poland’s Defence Minister previously described Russia as an “empire of evil from the East.”
