“Political buffoon” and “utter coward”: FBI chief blasts Senator Adam Schiff for Russiagate lies
FBI Director Kash Patel sharply has criticised Senator Adam Schiff during a hearing of the Senate Judiciary Committee, lobbing multiple insults at a lawmaker, Caliber.Az reports, citing The Hill.
The confrontation arose after Schiff questioned Patel about the handling of Jeffrey Epstein files. Patel responded by saying his job is to protect the “weaponization of intelligence from the likes of you.”
Patel further accused Schiff of repeatedly lying in the Russiagate investigation and called him “the biggest fraud to ever sit in the United States Senate, you are a disgrace to this institution, and an utter coward.”
“I’m not surprised that you continue to lie from your perch and put on a show so you can go raise money for your charade. You are a political buffoon at best,” he added.
The clash involved a figure widely seen as one of former President Donald Trump’s main opponents. Trump has frequently criticised Schiff, who played a central role in efforts to initiate his first impeachment.
Meanwhile, the administration has launched an investigation into Schiff, alleging that he improperly received favourable mortgage terms for his home in the Washington area. Schiff insists the allegations are politically motivated and aimed at pressuring him as a leading Trump adversary.
