Politico: Americans risk losing food assistance
16 November 2025 14:37
Millions of U.S. citizens may lose access to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) in the coming months, Politico reports.
According to the outlet, U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins has instructed department staff to ensure compliance with the provisions of the government spending law passed in July.
SNAP currently provides nearly 42 million people with food assistance amounting to $6 per day, with children making up around 40 percent of recipients.
It is noted that the changes will affect around 250,000 refugees and holders of humanitarian visas, whose benefits will be reduced.
