Politico: NATO summit in Ankara streamlined to keep Trump engaged
03 July 2026 12:28
Organisers of the upcoming NATO summit in Ankara have reportedly scheduled only a single three-hour working session in an effort to maintain the attention of U.S. President Donald Trump, according to a NATO official cited by POLITICO.
“There’s just one three-hour session planned, in a bid to keep Trump from getting bored,” the official told POLITICO.
The report noted that managing the U.S. president’s engagement may not prove difficult, pointing to his recent overnight social media post criticising the level of American spending on NATO.
The NATO summit is scheduled to take place in Ankara on July 7–8.
