Politico: Zelenskyy’s participation in G7 may be risky
Possible participation of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in the G7 summit in France could prove risky, given his strained relations with US President Donald Trump, Politico reports.
The outlet said, as recently as March, officials at the Élysée Palace made it clear that Zelensky had not been invited to the summit.
However, in recent days, Paris has sharply changed its position, and he is now expected to attend the meeting.
According to the publication, given Zelenskyy’s complicated relations with Trump, the move brings its own “dose of uncertainty” into the upcoming G7 leaders’ gathering.
“There’s always a share of risk with the Trump administration. They are not afraid of conflict,” an unnamed European diplomat told Politico.
The summit will take place on June 15–17 in Évian, in France’s Haute-Savoie region.
