Pope Leo XIV urges Israeli president to resume dialogue on Iran war

Pope Leo XIV held a telephone conversation with Israeli President Isaac Herzog, during which he called for renewed diplomatic efforts to end the conflict with Iran, according to Reuters, citing the Vatican.

During the call, the pope urged Herzog to “resume all paths of dialogue” aimed at bringing the war to an end.

Pope Leo XIV, who has emerged as a vocal critic of the ongoing regional conflict, also emphasised the need to protect civilians and to ensure compliance with international and humanitarian law.
