Pope Leo XIV urges Trump to end Iran war before Easter
Pope Leo XIV has called on US President Donald Trump to end the military operation in Iran, expressing hope that the conflict could be brought to a close before Easter.
According to Vatican News, the pontiff said he had spoken directly with the US leader and urged him to bring the war to an end. He added that he had been informed Trump had recently indicated a willingness to stop the conflict.
“Perhaps a ceasefire by Easter, but there are already signs… maybe the war will end before Easter, let us hope. (…) We hope that he is seeking a way out, and a way to reduce the violence, the bombings, which would make a significant contribution to eliminating the hatred that is constantly growing in the Middle East and in other regions,” Pope Leo XIV said.
